Russian Visa in 2026: What Rules Apply to Citizens of Different Countries?

Visa-Free Entry to Russia

Citizens of a number of countries may visit Russia without obtaining a visa in advance.

Visa-free for up to 90 days:

Visa-free entry with all types of passports:

• Azerbaijan
• Kazakhstan (including entry using domestic identification documents)

Special note regarding China:

• Chinese citizens may enter Russia without a visa for up to 30 days (the current regime is valid until September 14, 2026).
• Chinese citizens are also eligible to apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa).

Electronic Visa (e-Visa) – Up to 30 Days

In recent years, the electronic visa has become one of the most convenient ways for foreign nationals to enter Russia.

Citizens of the following countries may apply for an electronic visa valid for up to 30 days:

• Germany
• Ireland
• Spain
• Luxembourg
• Malaysia
• Norway
• Romania
• Turkmenistan

• Switzerland

The e-Visa significantly reduces travel preparation time and requires fewer documents than a traditional visa, making it a convenient option for short-term business visits.

Countries Requiring a Standard Visa

Citizens of certain countries must still obtain a visa in advance through Russian consular offices.

These countries include:

• Pakistan
• United Kingdom
• Iraq

• United States
