In 2016, Labor Inspection performed 134.5 thousand check-ups (it is 4 thousand less than in 2015). In 2016 the total number of planned check-ups decreased, also inspectors started to issue warnings more often, instead of fines. However, the number of prosecuted general directors was doubled in 2016. What violations can lead to criminal sanctions? Violation of labor protection rulesIf such violation caused injury or death of employee, the general manager of the company can be fined in amount of 400,000 Rubles, or can be sentenced to correctional labor, or imprisonment and prohibition to hold certain positions. Unreasonable refusal to employ or unjustified dismissal of a pregnant woman/a woman with children under the age of three yearsSanctions for such violations are: a fine of 200,000 Rubles, or 360 hours of correction works. Non-payment of salaries, pensions, allowances and other paymentsThis is the most popular violation that can lead to criminal case against employer. Depending on the severity of the violation, sanctions may vary from fine in amount of 500,000 Rubles and prohibition to hold certain positions, to correctional works and even imprisonment.
